Essay

There is a special significance to the 12 months in Indian painting, and paintings are created in line with that significance. I've also created paintings of Bara massa (12 months ).

This is a Sawan-inspired ( monsoon ) painting in which the king, his queens, and friends are sitting in the garden, feeding grains to pecocks. There are various trees and flowers all around them. There are water-filled clouds in the sky. As is typical during the monsoon season, the sky is crystal clear. The king and queen are dressed in vibrant gowns.

Delicate fine line work is important in Indian traditional paintings, and it can be seen throughout the painting, even in the border.
